How To Lose Weight And Keep It Off

By Christa Destefano

So you hear all types of awesome success stories about losing weight. Whether it is your friend who has lost weight successfully or the "Biggest Loser" who shed a ludicrous degree of weight. Some individuals keep it off, quite a few people wind up back where they were.

How come some weight loss systems fail?

1.) "Diets" are short-term repairs. I would probably declare that when 99% of folks want to shed extra pounds, they don't say, "I want to lose 20 lbs and then put it back on in 6 months, and after that lose 20 lbs once more. No, you choose it to get rid of it forever. When you're thinking about a system, picture yourself executing it for the long term. Can you see yourself taking that pill or consuming that shake for a month? Two months? Forever? What about with exercise?

2.) They can make you sick or hungry. Plans that drastically limit certain kinds of foods from your diet may lead to vitamin and mineral deficiencies in the body which can wind up making you sick. And in addition they can make you hungry. You don't want to just cut calories, you should produce a calorie deficit and that means you are burning more calories than you are taking in. That's where exercise comes in. By adding exercise you are boosting your metabolism which puts your body in "fat-burning mode" so it helps you slim down and/or cut up.

3.) You end up worn out. When you are on a diet that demands you to cut calories or particular foods from your diet, you don't have sufficient energy to complete every day tasks, let alone attempting to workout as well! And if you cut too many calories, you really slow your metabolism which can make it more challenging to lose weight.

4.) Diets are freakin hard! Now I'm not implying that good nutrition and exercise isn't likely to be hard. It will be, but I know at least to me, calorie counting, depriving myself, being worn out and then finding myself binging on junk food and feeling guilty is just going to make me feel a whole lot worse as opposed to better. And I know I won't get very far because if you're anything like me, you'll throw in the towel.

So what do you need to do to get it off and KEEP it off?

To burn fat and keep it off, you have realize that just like anything, it's going to take work and dedication. If you take a tablet for two weeks to help you lose weight, but haven't improved any of your nutrition or exercise practices, what do you think will happen when you quit taking that tablet?

Regardless of whether you want to hear it or not, you have to make a lifestyle change. I am not saying you have to revamp everything at once- some people can do that and some can't. Often you must do things one at a time!

If you are looking to drop extra pounds and get healthy, look for products that encourage that. Don't give up nutrition for weight loss, and don't abandon the exercise component. Enroll in my free newsletter at meetcasey.com. You'll get a weekly "challenge" to focus on better wellness. Try one every week or when you find one that works stick to it and make it a part of your way of living. It can be something as simple as use little plates! You'll also get a quick and nutritious recipe to test.

I also recommend checking out the reviews. It's the system I suggest and the one my clients use. I used it to drop over 30 lbs and two years later, I still use everyday for weight management and good nutrition. The training DVDs are excellent to do right at home, or if you're traveling they are easy enough to bring! Initially when I first started out making some health adjustments I used exercise DVDs 2-3 times each week and little by little elevated my training intensity from there.
